Smartdc Rotterdam is the largest and most unique data center in the Rotterdam region. The data center is built according to a unique concept. A modular design in which each suite is a mini data center with its own cooling installation, power connection and security. The meet-me-room (MMR) of Smartdc Rotterdam is the largest hub in the region, with more than 12 carriers in-house, including large international transit parties such as Centurylink (former Level3 and Global Crossing), Colt and Cogent, but also local networks such as KPN and Tele2. In the Rotterdam data center, both the NL-iX and R-ix have a point-of-presence.

Smartdc is constantly investing in improvements and redundancy of the electricity network. The Rotterdam data center is connected to the 23kV port network. This network was built for the port of Rotterdam and is much less susceptible to interference than the regular 10kV network. A second powerhouse was built in 2017, making the power supply in the data center completely redundant. Each rack has a completely separate A-feed and B-feed.

Optimal cooling ensures that your servers keep running. Each suite is monitored and checked individually. Smartdc has opted for a warm corridor in the middle of the suite. The servers are facing out. The warm rear of the servers is centered; where the warm air is extracted. Because of this unique design, the majority of the suites are filled with cold air.

Thanks to the Smartdc modular concept, a (near) fire in one of the suites has no impact on the rest of the data center. Smartdc is protected 24/7 by both automatic safety systems and by on-site security. Smartdc Heerlen opened its doors in 2014. The geographical location in relation to Rotterdam, Frankfurt, Brussels and Paris offers many advantages for international connectivity. Smartdc Heerlen is directly connected to the DE-CIX in Frankfurt with a latency of <5ms. The data center in Heerlen is also built according to the Smartdc modular concept. Many Smartdc customers use the data center in Heerlen as a backup location. With more than 100m above NAP, the data center is ideal for this. Both Smartdc data centers are ISO / IEC 27001 & NEN 7510 certified.
